Definition Initial Inspection and conditions;

Definition:

An initial inspection involves a practical first meeting on location with the artwork in question, during which ACIF carries out an initial check on behalf of the selling party or a potential buyer (including taking photographs that will later be compared with the information related to, among other things, the high-quality catalogs).

Please note: An initial inspection is entirely separate from an authenticity report. Authenticity will be determined at a later stage in consultation with one or more experts and will be further elaborated and described in a separate report.

Conditions:

The conditions that A.C.I.F. negotiates with the selling party or the potential buyer of works of art and which must be agreed upon are as follows:

In the case of an offer for sale:

  • a) A.C.I.F. will first receive an offer for the sale of art, either directly from the owner or from a person/entity authorized by the owner.
    This offer to sell must also be accompanied by the complete history/provenance (provenance).
  • b) Depending on the amount of documentation, A.C.I.F. will send a modest invoice (proof of commitment) for, on the one hand, the study and verification of the documentation obtained and, on the other hand, contacting one or more potential buyers in complete confidentiality.
  • c) If points *a) and *b) have been completed properly and correctly, A.C.I.F. will request the selling party to conduct an initial inspection.
    This initial inspection is necessary to enable A.C.I.F. to declare to the potential buyer that A.C.I.F. has actually seen the artwork in question.
  • d) Prior to an initial inspection commissioned by and on behalf of the selling party, an invoice in the amount of €3,750 must be paid to A.C.I.F. (this amount applies only within Europe).

Cost breakdown:

  • Travel expenses
  • Accommodation expenses
  • Hours (at least two nights).
  • Communication with potential buyer after the initial inspection.

This concludes the initial inspection related to the selling party.
